Solar Energy Systems
Pacific Electrical Contractors delivers cost-effective, renewable energy solutions that reduce your dependence on traditional energy sources while improving the health of the planet. We have the technology, the expertise, and the experience with solar energy installations. And, as a local company, we know the topography and weather conditions that will take full advantage of the sun’s energy.
About Solar Energy
Solar electric or photo-voltaic (PV) technology converts the sun’s energy into electricity. The prefix “photo” means “produced by light,” and the suffix “voltaic” refers to “electricity produced by a chemical reaction.” Photo-voltaic technology produces electricity directly from the electrons freed by the interaction of sunlight with certain semiconductor materials, such as silicon, in the PV module. The electrons are collected to form a direct current of electricity.
Storing Solar
Since solar energy is not available at night, solar power must be captured when it’s available and either stored for when it can be used, or transported via the utility grid to where it can be used. Pacific Electrical Contractors is ready to help you harness the natural power of the sun’s energy to help you save money and tread lighter on the planet.
Why Go Solar?
Save Money
With prices of traditional energy sources soaring, it’s nice to know that after installation, solar energy is free! In recent years, manufacturing costs of photo-voltaic cells have dropped by 3-5% per year while government subsidies have increased, making solar energy an increasingly affordable energy source. Solar power can cut water bills by more than 50% each year in a home where a solar model replaces the electric water heater.
Reduce Global Warming
With solar energy there are no carbon dioxide, methane or other emissions that warm the atmosphere. And the energy output of a 1 kilowatt solar energy unit can replace the burning of 170 pounds of coal, which releases 300 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Tax Incentives
In addition to federal tax incentives, some consumers will also be eligible for utility or state rebates, as well as state tax incentives for an energy-efficient home. Consumers who install solar energy systems, including solar water heating and solar electric systems, can receive a 30% tax credit for systems placed in service before December 31, 2016.
We’ll Help You Go Solar
Step 1: Get a Written Estimate
We will evaluate your power usage to help you choose the right size photo-voltaic (PV) system. Based on your power usage history, as well as forecasted usage, the correct system will be custom designed just for you. Your estimate will also include the peak generating capacity of your PV system and the total cost of installation including hardware, connecting to the grid, local permitting, inspection and warranty details.
Step 2: Reserve Your Rebate
There are many state, federal and local incentives available to help you pay for the cost of installing renewable energy systems. We will walk you through the process of applying for these incentives and do most of the work for you.
Step 3: Obtain a Building Permit
We will obtain all necessary building and electrical permits from your city or county building department before installing your renewable energy system. The permit costs are included in the overall system price.
Step 4: Building and Utility Inspections
Your local permitting agency needs to inspect and sign-off on your new solar energy system. Your utility company may also require that they inspect your renewable energy installation before you turn it on and connect to the grid. Guiding you through this process is also included in your estimate.
Step 5: Insurance and Warranty
To protect this valuable asset, you will want to add your new PV system to your insurance policy. Be sure to send in your equipment warranty cards to maintain proper warranty coverage and be notified of any future updates or service alerts. Got questions? Just give us a call. We’re here to help you every step of the way.
